11.10.2011: Kopar to supply bottom ash handling to Narva

Remarkable order for Kopar in the field of bottom ash handling.

Kopar Group has received a significant order to supply bottom ash handling equipment to a new power plant in Narva, the Eastern part of Estonia. The order includes the equipment, technology and design for handling the bottom ash of a CFB (circulation fluidised bed boiler) plant. The plant is mostly powered by oil shale with a typical character of producing a lot of ash in the burning process. The value of the contract is not disclosed.

Kopar’s client in this project is the international group Alstom, the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor. The end customer is Eesti Energia Narva Elektrijaamad AS, internationally known as Enefit, the largest producer of electrical energy in Estonia. Eesti Energia Narja Elelktrijaamad AS already runs two power plants in Narva.

The order is quite significant to Kopar being the biggest order of bottom ash handling system of thermal energy plants up to date. The equipment by Kopar includes screens, conveyors and crushers. Earlier this year Kopar already delivered mechanical filters of cooling water in a new oil shale treatment plant that is currently being built in Narva.
“The order improves considerably Kopar’s position in the ash handling markets and strengthens our role as a supplier of complete systems,” comments Mr Hannu Penttilä, CEO.

Kopar headquarters and the main manufacturing plant are located in Parkano, a town in Western Finland. Kopar’s second plant is located in Lehtimäki and the technology center in Kuortane, both in Central Finland. Kopar also has a subsidiary company in Estonia.
