KOPAR SOLUTIONS FOR CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES
Kopar is an experienced manufacturer and supplier of equipment aimed to a wide variety of different types of chemical industries. Kopar expertise in this sector mainly includes solutions for materials handling in general and conveying, dosing and storage purposes in particular. A major strength of Kopar is the company’s ability to provide complete solutions.
More recently, Kopar’s product range was increased considerably by the acquisitions of Site Teollisuus and Elmomet, two Finnish companies with a long tradition and expertise in materials handling equipment.
Kopar’s product range includes pneumatic and mechanical conveying systems, storage and dosing systems, filtering and dust removal equipment and screening systems. Kopar also supplies silos and pressurized and non-pressurized tanks. For customers Kopar offers complete solutions from design to end-user training.

VARIOUS CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES SERVED
There are a lot different types of chemical industries, all with different processes. Kopar has served the respective process plants for decades and always offered and supplied smooth and easy-to-use solutions to cover the customer needs. For example, Kopar solutions have been sold to processes that produce products from glue to paint pigments.
The number of different chemicals produced at plants, where Kopar has supplied equipment, know-how and expertise, is huge. They include starch, polymer granulates, molasses, titan oxide pigments, enzymes, chemicals for toothpaste, plastic bags, metal organics, glass fiber composites, paint pigments, and glues, just to name a few.

CONVEYING AND STORAGE SOLUTIONS
Kopar has a long tradition and experience in supplying conveying solutions, both pneumatic and mechanical. There are many hundreds of such installations in the world. In addition to chemical industries, Kopar conveying solutions have been delivered to cement plants, mining and metallurgy operations, pulp and paper industry, and power and utility plants.
Kopar pneumatic conveying systems cover a number of different methods that are chosen according to the customer need and specification. A conveying system most often begins with the raw material unloading process where Kopar is involved by supplying the necessary screw and pneumatic conveyors, pipes and storage silos added by dosing tanks and the automation system to handle weighing and further transfer of raw materials and ingredients.
The pneumatic conveyors are able to handle materials practically in any amount of volumes and any length of distances. The pneumatic conveying systems are clean and dust-free. The systems are dry and therefore there is no wastewater problem.
The mechanical conveyors include screw conveyors and heavy-duty drag chain conveyors, which are used for moving powered or dusty materials.
Kopar conveyors are based on years of experience with extensive development and testing. They offer a reliable and trouble-free operation with an even and continuous material flow. The use of low velocity and wear-resistant materials make the conveyors a long-lasting and cost-efficient investment.
An important factor is that the Kopar systems are fully automated and easy to integrate into a plant’s DCS systems.
One of Kopar’s strengths is the capability to supply silos and tanks, which are critical in storing raw materials and ingredients in process industry operations. The silos and tanks, both pressurized and non-pressurized tanks are of different sizes from small dosing tanks up to silos several hundreds cubic metres.
Kopar’s range of equipment and components offered to the chemical industries include
• Pneumatic conveyors
• Mechanical conveyors
• Screw conveyors
• Vacuum conveyors
• Silos
• Storage silos
• Pressurized tanks
• Non-pressurized tanks
• Pipes
• Dosing systems
• Filters
• Screens
• Unloading equipment
• Air slides

COMPLETE SOLUTIONS
In a chemical process there are numerous critical points. The processes usually are very complicated and may include various conveying systems, a lot of pipes, dosing and weighing systems, scales, bagging systems, censors, vacuum pipelines and automation. All elements need to function reliably at all times and therefore the design phase is critical.
Kopar is an experienced supplier of complete systems and solutions, which can be designed and specified in close co-operation between the customer and Kopar experts.
A successful implementation of a project demands advanced flow sheet and layout planning. During supply, erection and commissioning the Kopar project manager turns the planning into solutions and results and follows carefully that agreed targets are reached and the project will be realized within budget and on schedule.
Kopar’s project management offering can be extended to cover following functions:
• Process flow sheet optimisation
• Layout design
• Manufacture and supply
• Electrification
• Control systems
• Erection
• Testing and trials
• Commissioning
• Maintenance
• Documentation
• Training
The customer satisfaction before, during and after the project is Kopar’s prime objective. The overall assistance and service by Kopar and its many experts will result in complete and cost-efficient systems for years and decades to come.
