A green field heat and power plant is being constructed in the French town of Épinal located in the Alsace region. Once completed in January 2015, the plant’s steam boiler will generate 18MWth of power, which will be used for district heating. The end customer is Cofely that belongs to the GDF-Suez energy and power conglomerate. The plant’s engineering work was designed by the Finnish company Renewa.
Kopar’s involvement in the project is in ash handling.
The future plant is based on fluidized bed boilers that produce a few tons of ash per hour. Kopar’s involvement is, indeed, in ash handling. Bottom ash will be transported from under the boiler to a storage silo in a distance of 24m by two pneumatic conveyors. Kopar supplied the piping, as well. Kopar also delivers equipment for discharging ash from the silo. The delivery takes place in June, 2014.
