Kopar is to modify fine bar screens at Fortum Loviisa nuclear plant. Kopar received an order from Fortum Power and Heat Oy’s Loviisa Power Plant. The scope of the purchase is modernisation of the fine bar screens at the raw water intake station of plant unit no 2.The Loviisa nuclear power plant consists of two plant units, Loviisa 1 and Loviisa 2. The plant units generate a combined eight terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity annually for the national grid. That covers of about one-tenth of Finland’s electricity production. In terms of availability, Loviisa ranks among the world’s best nuclear power plants. These stations have a total of eight screening lines, handling some 55 m³ of water per second. Kopar recently revamped the fine bar screens of two screening lines of Loviisa 2, while this new order covers the remaining two bar screens of the same station. New modernised fine bar screens are ready for operation by the end of March 2010.
